My name is Greg Tilford.  I am an author, herbalist, and a professional speaker in the field of natural animal care.  Perhaps you know me from my work with Whole Dog Journal or Animal Wellness magazines— or maybe you have read one of my four books, such as Herbs for Pets (Bowtie 1999) or Edible & Medicinal Plants of the West (Mountain Press, 1994).  I am also co-founder of Animals Apawthecary, and president and formulator for Animal Essentials Inc.; a company that produces natural supplements fo dogs and cats.

    I just found your blog and can’t wait to read your stuff! Can you tell me if hawthorn can be safely combined with Chinese hebs?

      Hi Marsha,

      Thanks for joining! As you can see its been quite awhile since Ive picked up my blog, but that is about to change! Yes, hawthorn and is frequently used in TCM, where it is called “Shan zha”. This is an herb with virtually no contraindications—- it is really as risk-free as raspberries! Stay tuned for more posts to come… and tell you friends. Best Regards, Greg
